Are you taking full advantage of your position at your boutique? Keeping an orderly <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Clothing Rack">clothing rack shows respect to the customer.

Boutiques are booming everywhere! Are you taking full advantage of yours? Small businesses can deliver what big companies can’t; customer trust. That being said, you should look into just how much customer loyalty you can generate. Boutiques are in a prime position to tackle many areas of running a small business that bigger companies just can’t. Make sure you are not leaving any stone unturned by following the guidelines below.

1) Boutique owners can experience exactly what their customers are experiencing. You live in the same town, experience the same events, and really have a feel for what day to day life might be like for your clients. Big corporations can’t do that. Make sure that you are talking with your customers and making them feel like you are on their side.

2) Boutiques generally have to narrow their focus to operate. You can’t necessarily afford to offer everything. You need to hone in on certain products and brands. This naturally narrows your target audience. By becoming a very specific type of retailer, you target a very specific group of people. This type of focus allows you to become an expert. People love to find the “expert in the field” when shopping for certain things. This gives you the advantage over bigger businesses whose focus is lacking.

3) As a boutique owner, you have the flexibility to offer what larger corporations may not even be aware of. If you know, for example, that all the kids are going crazy over one specific brand of pants, jewelry, or accessories, you have the flexibility to get it in there this season and make your customer base aware that you are the one to come to for this item. Bigger companies may have no idea that the fad has launched until it’s over. They end up ordering late and having to clearance out yesterday’s news.

4) Boutique owners should focus on providing personal level service. People crave to be educated about certain products. They want to know the pros and cons of an item before they buy it. Boutiques are where they come for honest advice. If a customer asks about a certain brand of shoe, you may be able to give them some very specific information. For example you could say, “When I wore mine in the water, I liked it because the rocks didn’t get inside of my shoes.” This type of personal touch is what will keep customers coming back.

5) Respect! Respect! Respect! Who wants to shop somewhere where they are not respected? Customers of boutiques expect to be respected because they know they’re not just another customer. Each customer feels that they are important to the success of your business, and they’re right. Be respectful, helpful, and keep everything where customers can easily touch, feel, and experience your products. Keeping organized <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Clothing Racks">clothing racks is one way to make this happen. An orderly <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Clothing Rack">clothing rack tells the customer that you respect their time and don’t want them to have to rummage through crowded racks.

Keep all of these things in mind as you run your day to day business and you’ll be taking advantage of the many benefits of running a boutique!

Learn how to train and motivate your staff to offer exceptional customer service. They should straighten <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Garment Racks">garment racks, clothing racks, offer help and be incented to increase sales.

Having a sales contest for employees can help motivate them to sell. Having a little competition between employees can improve morale, help them to avoid boredom, and also help you to identify weaknesses and strengths in your staff. Train your staff to help them be successful. Use their customer interactions as coaching moments to improve the level of customer service that your employees provide.

First, get your employees interested in seeing the business succeed. Let them come up with promotional ideas, window displays, and have input in what inventory you sell. Not only will you benefit from the new ideas, but your employees will feel involved and start to see how their hand in the business is paying off.

Once they care about the business, explain how the success of the business is dependent on the customer experience. Providing customer service that exceeds expectations will ensure that the customer raves about your boutique to friends. Word of mouth is most definitely your most effective form of advertising. You can’t pay for a customer’s respect, you have to earn it. Once you have it, you could have a customer for life, plus a walking, talking, texting, advertising machine.

Teach your employees some basic ways to exceed customer’s expectations. Never point out where something is if a customer asks. Always say something to the effect of, “Let me show you where that is.” Never brush off a customer and say, “It’s over there by the shoes.” When you’re helping a customer, avoid distractions and store responsibilities. The display that you were straightening will be there when you’re done.

Give your staff selling tips or special deals to offer your customers. Once they are helping a customer, they can engage in conversation. Your staff could find out that this is the customer’s first visit and then inform them that if they provide their e-mail address at check out, they can receive 10% off of their entire purchase. When a customer feels like a deal is being made specifically for them, they are way more likely to purchase.

Reward employees for providing this type of service by incenting them. You could say that whoever accumulates the most e-mail addresses of first time customers in a month’s time wins $100 bonus. The extra sales, customers, and good customer experiences that you create in that month should far exceed the bonus money that you pay out.

Another way to improve the customer experience is to have your staff constantly move around the store. They can straighten and restock your displays and <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Garment Racks">garment racks instead of looking bored at the register. Customers hesitate to “disturb” the staff if they look bored or involved in conversations with one another. Your employees should always approach customers and offer help. Moving around the store, managing clothing racks and displays, and offering help will further ensure that your customer’s every need is met.

Strategies for defining your boutique's concept. How to work with other retailers to find suppliers, where to buy clothing racks or <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Garment Racks">garment racks, and more!

Coming up with a concept for opening a boutique takes more than imagination and money. You need to research your competition and figure out what will also be profitable. Your location, your prices, your design, even your store front could all be dependent on your competitive research findings. Besides all of that, you need to decide what niche of the market you can own. You need to find that little hole in the current style market that gives you room to be unique and creative. Here are some ideas to help you imagine what will fit with your style, budget and give you a competitive edge.

You may need to come up with a word that inspires you to keep in mind. Words for helping define a boutique’s style can be something like simplicity, functionality, crafty, designer, obscure, vintage, maternity, baby, casual, or modern. The possibilities are really endless. Boutiques don’t necessarily have to be about upscale fashions, they can be any type of store that has a unique specialty. You can start a soccer boutique, jewelry boutique or even a pet boutique.

Once you have your concept, you can focus more on products. You can sponsor contests or events for people who make the items that you’re interested in selling. This helps get your name out to the suppliers while you get ideas for your boutique. Many designers are itching to get their items on the market and you could find a few unique vendors to work with.

For name brand vendors, you may need to work with wholesalers. Go to trade shows, conferences or contact the brand’s headquarters directly for their suggestions. Sometimes it is more profitable to go through a wholesaler than a company directly, because they don’t want to be dealing directly with thousands of boutiques. So, they offer their lowest prices to wholesalers and let them do all of the work. Shop wholesalers, online auction sites and competitors before you decide that a product will be profitable for you. If you are constantly finding that the products can be bought online for below the suggested retail price, then you may not be able to cover your operation costs.

You can learn a lot by talking to other retailers like yourself. This is especially true if you are not in direct competition with someone. Find other boutique owners in different towns and ask them about their suppliers, where they buy their clothing racks or <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Garment Racks">garment racks, and what paths they have taken in getting their business going.

If you can develop good working relationships with other store owners, then you can both be an asset to each other. If you feel that you may not be a valuable resource to them, entice them to help you by promoting their store on your site or plugging their boutique in your blog. With the right concepts, support structure and products, your boutique can be a smashing success.

Simple steps to starting a small boutique. Permits, bookkeeping, <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Garment Racks">garment racks and displays to get you started.

Starting a new business can be fun and exciting, but can also be overwhelming at times. Use these step by step instructions to keep everything organized in your plan. If you follow some simple guidelines, do your research and take advice from experienced business owners, you can start up your own boutique and avoid many of the pitfalls that others fall into.

If you’ve decided to start a boutique, you probably already have the style in mind. Research your competitors to figure out what need you can fill and what makes you unique. Use these points to advertise, design around and order your merchandise. Make your uniqueness known to your customers so that you can maintain your competitive edge. Research prices, lighting, sound levels, unique pieces and other details to make sure that your boutique stands out like a rare jewel in the marketplace.

Most boutiques need a loan around $100,000 to get started. If you are taking out a loan from the bank, your business plan will have to be very precise and convincing to get the money that you need. Don’t skimp on this step. You need to meet with a consultant to make sure your business plan is rock solid before you ever step foot in the bank. If you don’t get the money that you need, consider starting an online boutique to raise the money to open your store. Raise awareness of your products using social networks. You can sell your items on auction sites as well as on your own site. Be creative in raising the money that you need!

Take care of the nitty gritty. Before you can have fun merchandising, setting up displays and decorating, you have to make sure that you have all of the necessary permits to conduct business. Set up your business as a limited liability company, a corporation, a partnership or a sole proprietorship. If you are the only owner, then a limited liability company can be the most flexible option for you. Essentially, you are liable for the value of the business and are not personally responsible for huge claims. In a sole proprietorship, you are accepting personal responsibility for the business. If you form a corporation, then you have investors and management who are all responsible for the business losses or gains.

Get your bookkeeping in order. There are a number of programs for boutiques to keep track of inventory, sales, payroll and taxes. Choose one that works for you and helps you to easily keep up with your finances. If you are starting a consignment boutique, use software that keeps track of who owns what article of clothing, dates, sale prices, amounts agreed upon and more.

Decorate with your own personal style in mind. Use interesting <a href="http://onlygarmentracks.com/ecommerce/home/onlygarmentracks/"title="Garment Racks">garment racks, window displays and art to set yourself apart from your competitors. Have fun, be diligent, make smart choices and you will be on your way to running a successful boutique.
